About the Role
Zenith is currently recruiting for a Protection and Power Systems Engineer.
This role reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager and is critical in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems through protection studies and system analyses.

Location: Head Office Rivervale WA
Point of Hire: Perth WA
What You Will Do
- Analyse and optimize isolated remote grids ranging from 20MW to over 200MW
- Work extensively with Synchronous Generators
- Review HV submissions to ensure compliance and reliability
- Work on Medium Voltage Systems
- Review and upgrade existing Protection Relay setpoints, equations, and logic to enhance protection scheme reliability.
- Utilise remote login to the live Control and Protection Systems, to assess Settings and Event Logs.
- Provide technical support to the Operations team for fault finding and system troubleshooting
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Control and Commissioning teams, and other engineering and operations divisions to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor team members and foster a collaborative culture that drives innovation and continuous improvement.
About You
As the expert Protection and Power Systems Engineer, you will have the following experience, knowledge and skills to bring to the role.
Experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the operation of Synchronous Machines
- Proven power system protection engineering, with hands–on protection studies.
- Proven experience in Protection Relay programming.
- Experience with DigSILENT PowerFactory is desirable
- Experience in PLC programming is an advantage
Skills/Knowledge
- Highly developed communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
- Strong understanding of current Australian and International Standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex electrical protection systems.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
